Exercise 12 — Unstable Plank

Applies to: RH – F, FL, T, MT; Level A only
Points: 10 p

Obstacle Spec

  • 2 barrels (diameter 40 cm) + support board: length 4 m, width 30 cm
  • Board moves approx. 20 cm — simulates unstable surface.
  • Similar constructions with same measurements and movability are permitted.

Permitted AC/VC

  • 1 AC and/or VC for “mounting”
  • 1 AC for “remain in place”
  • 1 AC or VC for “go on”

Execution

  1. RDT assumes GS in front of obstacle (D off-leash).
  2. At AC/VC to “mount”: D jumps onto board.
  3. At AC: D immediately remains in place in direction of movement.
  4. At TJ instruction: DH goes to D’s side, gives AC/VC to “go on”, walks alongside D to end.

Evaluation — Faults

  • Insecure / hectic behaviour or insufficient coordination → devalue
  • Hesitant or hectic mounting → devalue
  • Insecure, anxious, erratic traversal → devalue
  • Running ahead / lagging behind → devalue
  • Hesitantly assuming position → devalue
  • Not reaching the end of obstacle → devalue

Note: unlike the rigid board, ladder, and swing, the unstable plank has no explicit 0-point or Insufficient jump-off thresholds in the regulation. All faults are evaluated with “devalue accordingly.”
