Procedure — Reporting In/Out, Between Exercises

Before the First Exercise

DH reports in to the TJ before the first exercise — leashed D in GS, leash ~1 m, collar. Procedural, not scored.

  • Scorebook (LH) must be handed over before the test.
  • DH declares D’s alert type to TJ (nosework).
  • Gear violations are caught here.

After the Last Exercise

DH reports out to TJ — leashed D in GS. Procedural, not scored.

Temperament Observation

The TJ actively observes D’s temperament prior to beginning and during the entire test. Explicit obligation.

  • Obvious inadequacies (aggression toward strangers/other dogs, uncontrollable leaving of DH) → termination
  • Aggressive behaviour → disqualification

Applies from arrival, including before Reporting In.

Between Exercises

  • No separate scoring phase exists between exercises.
  • The GS at start and end of each exercise is formally part of that exercise.
  • The Development criterion applies whenever D is moving alongside DH.
  • Temperament observation continues — a dog that acts out between exercises can still trigger termination/disqualification.
  • Down Under Distraction is deliberately placed to run during the other dog’s UO/GW — it is the one scored element that occupies the inter-exercise window.
