Exercise 2 — On-Leash Heeling (V) / Off-Leash Heeling (A, B)

Applies to: All RH types, all levels
Points: 15 p (V on-leash) / 10 p (A, B off-leash)

Permitted AC/VC

  • 1 short AC or VC to heel — may be given at each start and change of pace

Execution

  • TJ gives directive to start. All subsequent turns, halts, pace changes are done without TJ directive.
  • Begins: RDT goes 50 steps straight on the middle line at normal pace without stopping.
  • After about-turn: continues, including changes of pace (slow, fast, normal).
  • Includes right turns (RW), left turns (LW), and u-turns (KW).
  • At each halt: D must sit independently.
  • On-leash: leash must remain loose.
  • Off-leash: D heels freely, leash not attached.

Evaluation — Faults

  • Forging (ahead of DH)
  • Deviating sideways
  • Lagging
  • Slow or hesitant sitting at halts
  • Strained leash (on-leash only)
  • Submissive behaviour of D
  • Additional AC/VC by DH
  • Body help by DH
