Carry and Hand-Over
Applies to: RH – F, FL, T, L, MT, W; all levels
Points: 10 p
Setup
- 1 table or elevated place (for D to be picked up from)
- 1 marked spot for hand-over
- 1 marked spot for final position
- 1 assistant (HP — Hilfsperson)
If DH cannot carry the dog, an assistant may perform the initial lift, carry and hand-over. DH walks alongside until hand-over, then performs the remaining handler actions.
Permitted AC/VC (Level V)
- 1 AC and/or VC for jumping onto table (from GS)
- 1 AC or VC for recall
- 1 AC or VC for GS
Execution — Level V
- From GS, D jumps onto table at AC/VC.
- DH picks up D from table, carries D 10 steps straight on.
- During carry: D’s tail must be free.
- DH hands D over to HP.
- HP carries D 10 steps next to DH, D’s head facing DH. DH may speak to D.
- HP puts D down; DH ends with GS.
Execution — Level A and B
- Perform the initial mounting, lift, ten-step carry and hand-over as in V.
- HP carries D 10 steps further (away from DH); DH stops and stays.
- D must remain with HP until DH calls D with 1 AC at the judge’s instruction.
- D comes quickly, sits in front, after 3 sec → GS on AC.
Evaluation — Faults
- D not cooperative or not calm during carry → devalue accordingly
- D growls slightly or pulls back when picked up/put down → devalue
- D jumps off during carry → Insufficient
- D leaves HP after being put down and before the judge’s recall instruction → max Satisfactory for the exercise (A and B); return is not a condition
